SNI Germinators Program
7 technical teams working to sprout the seeds they planted during SNI's Winter 2022 Hackathon Challenge.

In February 2022, the Sovereign Nature Initiative team held its Winter 2022 Hackathon Challenge: a juried competition with a set of ecological challenges proposed by SNI partner, De Ceuvel, in Amsterdam.

A total of 23 teams participated in the hackathon - forming ideas, technical frameworks, mockups, and functioning applications created to reconfigure the way humans connect, value, and care for non-humans in urban ecologies.

The winning and runner-up teams were selected to participate in SNI's brand new Germinators Program.

Program Approach
Empathize
Teams empathize with the land and people at De Ceuvel.
Reflect
Teams reflect on the relationship between technology and nature.
Build
Teams build technology in collaboration with the support of SNI's tech partners.
What technologies can be of service to the continuation of a thriving planet?
This program is an experiment in radical collaboration exploring how web3 and sensing technologies might empower citizens and communities to connect, learn, and care for the wellbeing of urban ecologies in their proximity.

SNI's Germinator teams continue to build solutions inspired by the Winter 2022 Hackathon Challenge, addressing sustainability challenges at De Ceuvel and beyond.
